KERRVILLE, Texas – The Centenary softball team split a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Schreiner University to move to 1-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Ladies opened the twinbill with a 10-8 win before falling 11-6 in the final game of the weekend.

Morgan Daigle, Michelle Tasin, Melanie Wilson, Brittnie Mathis and Laura Perilloux each posted .500 clips at the dish on the day. Cadie Hancock led the Ladies with five RBI in the double-dip.

After trailing 3-1 though the first three frames of the opener, Centenary rattled off five runs in fourth to take a 6-3 lead. Hancock guided the scoring in the inning with a 3-RBI, double and later scoring on a Carissa Herndon RBI double to cap the inning.

Schreiner added a run in the bottom of the frame to narrow the lead to two runs. The two squads, following a scoreless fifth, exchanged four runs in the final two innings to give the Ladies the two-run victory and the first in conference action this season.

Melanie Wilson logged the win in the circle with 2.0 innings in relief. Wilson surrendered two runs on four hits with a walk and strikeout. Perilloux pitched 3.0 innings in the start with three runs allowed on six hits.

The Mountaineers scored six runs in the second inning of the second outing to spark their five-run win to force the split. Centenary scored a pair of runs in the third inning to nip the lead to four runs. SU added another run in the fourth which proved the difference in the decision.

Perillloux tossed 1.1 innings in the loss allowing five runs on two hits.

Centenary returns to action on Wednesday, March 11 at Jarvis Christian. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for Noon.
