Thompson leads Ladies; Women's Golf sixth at TaylorMade Intercollegiate

BEAUMONT, S.C. – The Centenary women’s golf team opened the 2015 portion of its schedule at the TaylorMade Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at the Dataw Island Golf Club. Taylor Thompson led the Ladies with a first round score of 78 as the squad fired a 370 to sit in fifth at the first round.

Thompson’s total is her best first round score of the season and one stroke back of her season-best set at Birmingham Southern during the fall. The Baton Rouge, La., native sits tied for second heading into the final round.

Jamie Wright is in a three-way tie for ninth after shooting an opening round score of 86. Gabrielle Ford is in 30th with a first round score of 97 with Haley Nidey in 35th following a score of 109. Toni Collaro rounds out the Ladies’ scores with a 127 in 40th after the first round.

Washington and Lee leads the team standings with a 333 while WLU’s Liza Freed sits atop the individual leaderboard with a 77 in the first round.

Centenary wraps up the TaylorMade-adidas Invitational on Tuesday, March 10 at 9 a.m.
