IRVING, Texas – The Centenary softball team forced a Saturday, doubleheader split following a 2-1 victory in the night cap at the University of Dallas. The Ladies, who move to 5-5 on the season and 2-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, were edged 2-0 in the opener.

Brittinie Mathis and Anna Dunn provided the two RBI hits in the final game of the twinbill. Dunn’s hit scored Haley Miller and secured the victory in the fourth inning. Mathis placed the Maroon and White on the board with a base hit that scored Morgan Daigle.

Daigle, Emily Sexton and Cadie Hancock each logged multiple hit efforts in the win.

Miller (3-1) picked up the decision in the circle. The freshman allowed the lone Crusaders’ run on seven hits in the complete-game effort.

Centenary outhit the Crusaders in the opener 7-5, but timely run production proved the difference in the outing for UD as they plated the only two runs they needed in second inning. Sexton and Daigle led the squad with a pair of hits each.

Laura Perilloux (1-4) pitched the complete-game in the loss. The sophomore allowed the pair of runs on five hits along with two strikeouts and a walk in the affair.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, March 15 as it closes out the weekend series with Dallas. The doubleheader is slated for 12 p.m.
