SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Schreiner University with an 8-1 victory in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action. The conference sweep is the first for the Gents (8-9, 4-2 SCAC) since taking three from Austin College last season.

Michael Schimpf and Christian Sebastien logged a team-best three hits in the affair. Kody Carson and Brooks Williams joined Schimpf and Sebastien with multiple hits as the duo tallied two hits a piece.

Taylor Henry (1-1) recorded his first win of the season on the bump. Henry fanned 14 in 8.1 frames as he allowed a run on five hits. The 14 strikeouts marks a career-high for the senior.

Devin Bench toed the rubber for the final two outs of the contest, both by strikeouts.

The Maroon and White jumped on the board early with five runs in the second as the squad posted five hits in the inning. Carson, Khalen Simpson, Schimpf and Ian Graham all logged RBI in the frame.

The Mountaineers managed a run in the fourth, but Centenary posted three runs in the eighth to insure the sweep and garner its fourth, conference win of the season. Aaron Quintanilla, Carson and Sebastien each garnered RBI in the inning.

Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, March 24 as it hosts Louisiana State University-Shreveport. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
