Gents fifth; Ladies seventh at Hal Sutton Invitational

BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Centenary men’s golf team finished fifth while the women’s gold team finished seventh at the Hal Sutton Invitational at the GolfClub at Stonebridge.

Jamie Gibson led the Gents with a two-day score of 145 – his best tournament score of the season – as he shot a 72 in the first round – his second-best round of the season – and finished with a 73 in the final round to finish fourth overall.

Taylor Thompson led the Ladies with a score of 158. Thompson fired identical rounds of 79 to record her best two-day score of the season and finish tied for fifth overall.

Larry Balthazar finished 21st on the men’s side with a 78-84 for a tournament score of 162. Corry Constanza finished tied for 22nd with a score of 163. Costanza tied his best round of the season with a 77 on the opening day and shot an 86 in the final round. Arni Sigurdsson shot a 182 in his first tournament of the season with identical 91s in both rounds to finish 33rd.

Jeffrey Scott and Chris Cates joined Sigurdsson in their first tournament of the season as they were a part of four individuals competing off the Gents’ roster. Scott shot a tournament score of 168 to finished 27th while Cates garnered a 178 in 32nd. John Sidery also competed as an individual with a score of 174 – his best of the season – to finish tied for 30th. Graham Maxwell finished 34th with a score of 185.

Gabrielle Ford finished 30th with a score of 197 after shooting a 96 in the first round and 101 in the final round.  Toni Collaro finished with a score of 215 – her best of the season – with a season-best round of 104 to open the tournament followed by a 111 in the final round to finish 35th. Haley Nidey finished rounded out the Ladies’ scores with a 234 (124-110). Jamie Wright competed in the first round for the Ladies with a score of 90, but withdrew from the final round.

Courtney Kale also competed in the first round, as an individual, but also withdrew. Kale shot a 135 in the round.

The Ladies return to the links on April 6 at the Southwestern Tournament with the Gents competing at Rhodes College on April 13.
