Ladies ninth at West Region Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Centenary women’s golf team is ninth after the first day of the Southwestern University-hosted West Region Invitational. The Ladies posted a first-day team score of 378.

Taylor Thompson paced the Maroon and White with an 84 in the round to sit tied for 14th. Jamie Wright sat one stroke back of Thompson and is tied for 18th. Gabrielle Ford shot an opening round score of 90 to finish 34th.

Hale Nidey fired an opening round 119 while Toni Collaro shot 128 in the first round. Nidey is 43rd overall with Collaro in 45th.

The University of Texas at Tyler is first among the teams with a 323 while Mary Hardin-Baylor is second and three strokes back of the Patriots. Trinity University rounds out the top three squads with a 339 in the first round.

UMHB’s McKenzie Ralston leads the individuals with a 78 with UTT’s Jordan Sloane in second and one stroke back. The Patriots’ Morgan Loth, Southwestern’s Bernice Leonard and Arabella Cruz of McMurry are tied for third with an 80 on the first day of the Invitational.

The final round of the West Region Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
