LONGVIEW, Texas – A six-run, fifth inning spurs the Centenary baseball team to a 10-8 win at LeTourneau University on Tuesday evening. The victory moves the Gents to 15-10 on the season.

After trailing 5-3 through four innings, the Maroon and White used six hits to spark its six-run inning and grab the lead from the Yellow Jackets. Centenary picked up RBI hits from Aaron Quintanilla, Christian Sebastien, Brooks Williams and Kody Carson. The Gents logged a run as Chris Zapata scored on a Cole Lavergne sacrifice fly.

LETU added a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to narrow the lead to a run, but Williams scored on a Jackets’ wild pitch to put the lead at a pair and garner the Gents’ seventh straight win.

Ian Graham, Quintanilla and Carson shared the team lead with three hits each. Williams joined the multi-hit efforts with two hits on the day. Centenary totaled 13 hits in the affair.

Kaleb Kirk (1-1) notched the win on the mound – his first of the season – as he tossed 5.2 frames. The freshman hurler allowed just one run on five hits with six strikeouts and a walk in the relief appearance. Devin Bench recorded his first save of the season pitching the final two innings with a pair of runs allowed on two hits with two strikeouts.

Centenary returns to non-conference action this weekend as it travels to Louisiana College on Friday. The doubleheader is slated for 5 p.m.
