Gents fall to Dallas Baptist

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s tennis team fell in straight sets to Division II Dallas Baptist University on Wednesday afternoon at the Centenary Tennis Courts.

The Gents picked up a strong effort at the No. 1 doubles position from the pairing of Stafford Lyons and Erik Norem, but the duo fell 8-1 to DBU’s team of Cannon Jones and Zane Nelson. The teams of Kane Kershaw and Andrew Borel and Chris Matthews and Eric Eymard fell in 8-0 outcomes to round out the doubles outings.

In singles, the Gents provided a valiant effort despite not claiming a decision. Lyons fought to a 6-0, 6-1 setback at the top position to Zane Nelson while Kershaw, Norem, Matthews and Eymard each fell 6-0, 6-0.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, April 18 against Austin College. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
