GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Centenary baseball team used a four-run, fourth inning to capture a 6-3 victory at Southwestern University to capture its 11th straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win. The Gents improve to 18-13 overall and 11-2 in the conference.

Kody Carson and Dakota Brown each delivered two-RBI doubles in the fourth to put the Maroon and White on the board first and spark the series-opening decision.

Brown finished the day tied for tops on the team with a pair of hits as Michael Schimpf and Ian Graham joined the Franklin, Tenn., native with two each hits.

Holden Novak (7-2) registered the decision on the bump. Novak tossed eight complete innings with three runs allowed on eight hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. Taylor Henry (8) recorded the save with a scoreless, frame of work while posting two strikeouts.

After the Pirates plated a run in the fourth, Chris Zapata doubled down the left field line to score Graham for his first of two RBI on the day. The Saratoga, Calif., product added his second RBI in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to center that scored Brown.

The Black and Gold tallied a pair of runs in the home half of the fifth and sixth frames, but couldn’t overcome the Gents’ lead.

Centenary and Southwestern resume the weekend series with a doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
