Gents drop a pair; Ladies fall to Austin College

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s tennis teams dropped a pair of 9-0 decisions to Austin College over the weekend while the Ladies also fell 9-0 to the Roos on Saturday.

On Saturday, Stafford Lyons and Andrew Borel provided stiff competition for AC. Lyons fell 6-1, 6-3 in the top spot in singles while Borel dropped a pair of 6-1 decisions at No. 4. The duo paired up in the top spot in doubles and succumbed 8-1. Chris Matthews and Eric Eymard teamed at No. 3 in doubles and fell 8-1.

The Ladies received a tough effort from Laura Beurlot at the top spot in singles against Meghan White, before eventually falling 6-1, 6-3. Katie Cornwell, Katelyn Alexander and Nicole Martinez each registered points at the No. 2-No.4 spots in singles before falling 6-1, 6-0. Cornwell and Alexander teamed up in the top spot in doubles to fall 8-3 to Cierra White and Grace Ortiz while Beurlot and Martinez fell 8-2 at the No. slot.

On Sunday, Kane Kershaw, Erik Norem, Borel and Eymard dropped 6-1, 6-0 decisions in singles play. Borel and Norem paired up in the top spot of doubles to fall 8-2.

The Centenary Ladies return to the court on Monday, April 20 against Louisiana College at 5 p.m. The Gents set their sights on the SCAC Championships on the weekend.
