Women's Golf in third at SCAC Championships

BLANCO, Texas – The Centenary women’s golf team is third after the first day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Jamie Wright and Taylor Thompson are among the top three individuals.

The Ladies shot an opening round of 370 while Wright is second overall and Thompson tied for third. Wright shot an 83 on the day, which are six strokes back of the top spot. Thompson was one stroke back of Wright in a three-way tie.

Gabrielle Ford is tied for 13th with a first round score of 89. Haley Nidey is 22nd after the round with Toni Collaro in 23rd. Nidey shot a 114 while Collaro added a 121 for the first day.

Schreiner University sits atop the team leader board with a 339 followed by Trinity University in second with a 341. Schreiner’s Kaycee Bankert leads the individuals with a 77 while Trinity’s Hanna Ninner and Shelby DeVore are tied with Thompson for third.

The final round of the SCAC Championships is set for an 8 a.m. tee time on Tuesday, April 21 at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club.
