Thompson, Wright named All-SCAC; Ladies finish fifth at SCAC Championships

BLANCO, Texas – Taylor Thompson and Jamie Wright tied for third at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships as the Centenary women’s golf team finished fifth.

Thompson and Wright finished the Championships with a score of 163. The tournament score placed the duo two strokes back of the top individual honor. Thompson shot a 79 in the final round to tie her third lowest score of the season while Wright shot an 80. The third place finish earned the duo All-SCAC First Team honors.

Gabrielle Ford finished 19th with a two-day score of 188 as she shot a 99 in the final. Haley Nidey fiished 22nd with a score of 225 for the two rounds after posting a 111 in the final round. Toni Collaro finished 23rd with a 234 – tying her best tournament score of the season – after shooting a 113 in the final round.

Schreiner claimed the SCAC title with a 667 for the tournament with Trinity in second with a 678. Southwestern rounded out the top three team performances with a 713.

Southwestern’s Lauren Boone took top individual medalist with a score of 161 for the tournament with Schreiner’s Kaycee Bankert one stroke back in second. Trinity’s Shelby DeVore and Schreiner’s Melanie Dean tied with Thompson and Wright for third.
