SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team dropped a non-conference 8-3 decision on Tuesday evening against the University of Texas at Tyler at Shehee Stadium. Centenary moved to 19-15 on the season while the Patriots improve to 27-10.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, April 25 as it hosts Texas Lutheran. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

The Gents picked up multiple hit efforts from Dakota Brown and Christian Sebastien. Sebastien went 2-for-4 with a RBI while Brown was 2-for-3. The Maroon and White logged just nine hits in the outing.

After UTT jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, Centenary posted its first run on a RBI single from Sebastien that scored Aaron Quintanilla in the fourth inning. The Patriots regained the three-run advantage with a run in the fifth and then posted four in the seventh to widen the gap.

Centenary attempted a rally with a pair of runs in the eighth as Ian Graham and Khalen Simpson each added RBI, but it wasn’t enough as the squad left two on the bags to conclude the inning.

Kaleb Kirk (2-2) took the loss on the mound with 6.0 frames of work. The freshman allowed four runs – one earned – on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Michael Francis, Dustin Dalton, Devin Bench and Trey Guccione combined for the final three innings seven hits and four runs allowed. Guccione tossed the final 2.2 frames with a strikeout and walk with three hits allowed.
