Henry named SCAC Pitcher of the Week

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary’s Taylor Henry was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in the Gents’ series at Southwestern University over the weekend.

Henry logged a 1-0 record with a save in his two outings this weekend against the Pirates. His save in the opener of the series gives him eight on the season while the win, which clinched the series, was his third on the campaign.

The Bossier City, La., hurler combined for 15 strikeouts in the two affairs, including 13 Ks in the series clincher - his second, double-digit strikeout effort of the season. He allowed just one run in 10 innings of work for an ERA of 0.90.

On the season, Henry ranks first in the SCAC in strikeouts with 71, is second in ERA with a 1.50 and second in saves with eight.

This marks the second pitcher of the week honor for the lefty as he becomes the third Gent to claim pitcher of the week laurels and the fourth player honored by the conference this season joining Jake McFarland and Aaron Quintanilla.

Centenary returns to action this weekend in a SCAC series with Texas Lutheran University to decide the conference regular season champion and the host for the SCAC Championships. The series opens with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 25 with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. with the finale on Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
