Netters conclude 2015 campaign

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Centenary tennis teams concluded their 2015 campaigns with losses to Austin College at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Ladies fell 5-0 to the Roos while the Gents were toppled 6-0.

Despite strong efforts, the Ladies dropped all three, doubles points. The pairing of Katie Cornwell and Katelyn Alexander fought to an 8-3 loss at the top spot to Grace Ortiz and Megan White. The team of Laura Beurlot and Nicole Martinez fell 8-1 to Megan Green and Kate Willis. Gemma Zuniga and Kayla Evans fell 8-0 at the No. 3 spot.

Martinez and Cornwell completed their singles matches. Martinez fell 6-0, 6-0 to Anaramaria Khevelli at the No. 4 spot. Cornwell dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 2.

On the men’s side, Erike Norem and Stafford Lyons provided stiff competition at the No.1 spot in doubles before falling 8-1. Kane Kershaw and Chris Matthews and Cavett Feazel and Eric Eymard dropped 8-0 decisions in doubles. In singles, Matthews fell 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. Kershaw at No. 3 and Norem at No. 4 dropped 6-1, 6-0 matches.
