Monday, April 27, 2015

LARENCEVILLE, Ga. – Centenary’s Kaleb Kirk was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts against the University of Texas at Tyler and Texas Lutheran University.

Kirk held the No. 30 Texas Lutheran hitters to four hits in his first complete-game win of the season

The Nacogdoches, Texas,  native held the Bulldogs off the scoreboard and helped lead the Gents to the outright SCAC regular season title and the host of the 2015 SCAC Championships, the first for the program since 1990 (the Atlantic Sun Conference).

Kirk fanned nine during the week and posted a 0.60 ERA it two starts against two top 30 teams.

The freshman hurler joins Taylor Henry and Jake McFarland, who received the honor earlier this season, and is the fifth Gent total to be recognized by the conference this season.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, May 1 in the SCAC Baseball Championships in Shreveport, La. The top-seeded Gents face fourth-seeded Southwestern at Noon.
