SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team moves on to the winner’s bracket on Saturday following 10-0 win over Southwestern University to open the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

Christian Sebastien and Cole Laverge each went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs.

Holden Novak (8-2) tossed the complete 7.0 frames in the win on the mound. The junior allowed just one hit in the effort and fanned four. The decision moves Novak into a tie with teammate Taylor Henry for fifth, all-time in career wins with 17.

The Gents (23-14) posted 10 hits en route to the double-digit victory. The Maroon and White plastered five runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding lead. Kody Carson, Sebastien and Lavergne each recorded RBI in the inning. The final Gents’ run of the frame came as Sebastien stole home.

Centenary added a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to capture the win. After Aaron Quintanilla drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right, Sebastien, Lavergne, Dakota Brown and Ian Graham all drove in runs to ice the contest.

Centenary faces Trinity on Saturday in the first game of the day. First pitch is slated 2:30 p.m.
