PINEVILLE, Texas – The Centenary College women’s soccer team (1-1) lost their first game of the season to Louisiana College (3-0) 2-0 Saturday night, September 5, in Pineville, Louisiana.

Junior Marissa Hughes took three shots for the game, including two on goal. Classmate Hannah  Jo Wright added a pair of shots, one of which was on target. Louisiana took seven shots for the game, four of which were on goal, and all taken by Jayme Harmon.

Junior Erica Coker (1-1) took the loss in goal for Centenary, allowing two goals and grabbing two saves. Haley Clark (3-0) grabbed all three shots faced for the Wildcats.

Centenary had opportunities to take the early lead as the Ladies put all three shots on goal before Louisiana took a shot, but one attempt was wide while the other three tries were grabbed by the goalie. After neither team took a shot in the contest’s first 19 minutes, Wright took a shot grabbed by the goalie in the 20th minute. Ten minutes later, Hughes tallied both her shots on target in quick succession, but Clark corralled both attempts.

Jayme Harmon scored both goals for Louisiana on a pass from Taylor Herbert. The Wildcats scored in the 38th and 89th minutes.

The Ladies return to the pitch Tuesday, September 8, when they take on LeTourneau. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
