SHREVEPORT, LA – The Centenary College women’s soccer team (1-4, 0-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) looks to take advantage of a full weekend home when it takes on Texas Lutheran (4-0-1, 0-0-1 SCAC) and Southwestern (1-4-1, 0-0-1 SCAC).

The Bulldogs and Pirates fought to a scoreless draw last Wednesday.

Junior Marissa Hughes continues to lead the Ladies and the conference with 11 points and five goals, ranking 84th and 64th in the country, respectively.

Junior Erica Coker leads the team with 27 saves and is 1-3 in goal on the year.

Scouting Texas Lutheran

Just like the men, the Bulldogs had not lost a game until meeting Southwestern to kick off conference play.

Texas Lutheran used stout defense for their 4-0-1 record, indicated by three shutouts in five games and a scoreless tie to kick off SCAC competition. In fact, the two goals and .383 goals against average ranks 32nd in the nation while their 95 percent save ratio is 11th in the country.

Centenary has scored more goals (nine) than Texas Lutheran (eight) this season.

Sioned Kirkpatrick leads the team with three goals as she and Hughes are the only players in the conference with more than two scores this season. Erin Rose is 3-0-1 in goal, having grabbed 25 saves on 26 shots faced.

Scouting Southwestern

Like the men, the Southwestern women were able to cool off a hot Texas Lutheran team. But unlike the men, the Pirate women played to a scoreless draw against the Bulldogs.

Southwestern only has one more goal as a team (six) than Hughes has individually (five). Malorie Lara and Hayley Miesse both total a pair of goals apiece.

Kylie Hunt ranks third in the SCAC in saves with 38 and has been the lone goalie for the Pirates this season.
