Feldt to receive honorary letter during homecoming

Tina Feldt has been named the 2015 recipient ofHonorary Academic LetterDirector of Athletics and Wellness Ronda Seagraves announced the honor on Monday, September 28.

“Tina Feldt is why this award was created,” said Seagraves. “This Honorary Varsity Letter award is presented annually to an individual who goes above and beyond to assist and support the athletic department. Tina gives valuable insight and support to our staff as we deal with student-athletes on a day-to-day basis.  She is always available to meet and counsel not only athletes, but all of our students on our campus. We are indebted to her service and appreciate all she does to support our coaches and athletes.”

Since 2000, Feldt has been instrumental in assisting all Centenary students as the Director of Counseling and Disability Services. She has been a great asset for the Ladies and Gents as not only a counselor for student-athletes and coachesbut also a valued supporter.

“It is a privilege to work closely with our outstanding athletic department for the personal growth and benefit of our student athletes,” said Feldt. “They exemplify the leadership skills we emphasize across our entire campus community. I am honored to receive this award, and I am grateful I have the opportunity to work among student-focused coaches, faculty, and staff.”

In the social work community, Feldt has served in many different positions and on numerous boards. She currently is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC). Her numerous honors include receiving the National Association of Social Workers Dorothy Schenthall Leadership Award on both the Regional and State levels, and being named Social Worker of the Year for Northwest Louisiana

Prior to her time at Centenary College, Feldt served as the Director of Clinical Services at various psychiatric hospitals in the areathe Executive Director of the YWCA Family Violence Programa home health social workerand a therapist adolescents and young adults.

Feldt, along with 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Kristina Menne Forward, will be honored during the homecoming festivities Friday, October 23, through Sunday, October 25. She will receive her honorary letter Friday at noon during the annual lumni wards uncheon in the Centenary Fitness Center.
