Erica Coker captures SCAC Defender of the Week
Monday, October 26, 2015

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary junior goalie Erica Coker garnered Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week for her play this past weekend.

“Erica is one of the top goalkeepers in the SCAC, and is overlooked because of our record,” explained head coach David Orr. “She is very much deserving of this accolade!”

Coker saved all five shots faced Friday in the Ladies 2-0 win against Dallas for her fourth shutout of her career. That included saving a penalty kick in the second half as the Maroon and White have repelled 3-of-5 penalty kicks this season. In limited action Sunday, Coker saved a pair of shot in as many faced against Hendrix.

With seven saves this past weekend, Coker eclipsed the century mark for the second time in her three-year collegiate career. The 307 career saves are fourth in the Centenary women’s soccer annals.

This is the third time Coker received this honor from the SCAC, garnering it twice her freshman year.

The Ladies return to action Friday against Austin at 1 p.m. Should Centenary win, it will qualify for the 2015 SCAC Soccer Tournament.
