SHREVEPORT, LA – The Centenary Ladies softball team, under the direction of first-year head coach Mark Suire, announced the 2016 schedule on Tuesday, November 3.

The schedule features 18 home games and four games against Texas Lutheran, who made the 2015 NCAA Division III softball tournament. All game days will be doubleheaders for the Maroon and White.

“The schedule we have inherited for my first season at Centenary will present many challenges, but will also afford us the opportunity to be successful if we continue to improve,” said Suire. “Our fall practices were productive, but we must be able to translate offseason progress into on-field success in the spring.  We are optimistic about the prospects for a successful season and look forward to Centenary College represented in the SCAC Softball Tournament in San Antonio this April.”

After beginning the season on the road with six games and three different opponents in five days, Centenary opens up the home slate February 21 against Rust. The Ladies travel to Jackson, Mississippi, on February 24 against Belhaven. Centenary makes the same trip earlier in the month to take on Millsaps the 13th.

The Ladies begin Southern Collegiate Athletic play to kickoff March, playing Dallas on the fifth and sixth. After a trip to Southwestern on the 12-13, the Ladies play their next six games at home. Taking on Trinity for SCAC tilts March 15-16, the Maroon and White step out of conference to battle the University of the Ozarks March 20.

Centenary makes a return trip to Holly Springs, Mississippi, to take on Rust March 22. March 25-26, the Ladies travel to Seguin, Texas, to battle 2015 NCAA participant Texas Lutheran in a conference showdown.

Centenary plays its final home non-conference games against Hendrix on the final day of March.

The Ladies will play their final home games of the season April 5 and 6 when Schreiner comes to Shreveport. The final games of the regular season are against Austin College in Sherman, Texas, April 16-17.

Trinity will host the annual SCAC Softball Tournament April 22-24.

Centenary softball kicks off the 2016 season Monday, February 8 at LeTourneau.
