SHREVEPORT, La. – The defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions, the Centenary College Gents, announced its 2016 schedule on Wednesday, November 4.

“We set our schedule to play the best competition possible to prepare us for conference and post season play,” said Gents Head Coach Mike Diaz. “I feel that this year's schedule attains that goal, and we are excited for opening day 2016.”

The season features six contests against teams who qualified for the 2015 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament in 2015, including a three-game set against Division III College World Series participant Trinity in Shreveport March 25-26.

The Maroon and White’s other three games against NCAA participants will be played in Tyler, Texas. Centenary battles UT-Tyler and Birmingham Southern as part of the Clements Fluid Tournament to begin and end weekend February 12-14. The middle game will be played against regional-rival LeTourneau in Longview, Texas.

The Gents make a midseason, weekday trip to UT-Tyler for the final regular season non-conference game April 19.

The team kicks off the season with a pair of games against Louisiana College at Shehee Stadium February 5. The Gents make a return trip to face the Wildcats the next day in Pineville.

After the Clements Fluid Tournament, the Maroon and White play a pair of three game, non-conference weekends against SCAC opponents. After traveling to Southwestern February 19-20, the Gents host Schreiner February 26-27.

March brings conference play as Austin College comes to Shreveport for a three-game set March 11-12. Following a trip to Kerrville, Texas, for a three-game series against Schreiner March 18-19, Trinity visits the Gents to kick off a 10-game homestand. Centenary closes out March with a midweek game with LeTourneau on the 29th.

April begins with the lone conference weekend off for Centenary as East Texas Baptist comes to Shreveport the first two days of the month. The Gents step back into SCAC play with three games against Southwestern on April 8-9, the final home games of the regular season.

April 15-16 sees the Maroon and White travel to Seguin, Texas, for a three-game set with Texas Lutheran. The Gents swept the nationally-ranked Bulldogs on the final weekend of the 2015 regular season to claim the SCAC crown and hosting duties of the Conference Tournament.

The Gents finish out the regular season with a three-game set in Irving, Texas, against Dallas April 22-23.
