LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Gents trailed against their old Trans-Atlantic Athletic Conference-rival by three late in the first half 32-29, but Centenary (0-2) could not overcome a barrage of three pointers by LIttle Rock (2-0) in an 95-49 loss Wednesday night, November 18.

With the Maroon and White trailing 25-18 with less than five minutes remaining before half, both teams heated up from downtown. Senior Justin Cueto hit a triple before Little Rock’s Josh Hagins made a layup. Cueto dialed it up from long range again to cut the deficit to one possession, but Marcus Johnson answered for the Trojans with a three to push the lead to 30-24 with 2:44 before half. Junior Kendall Demouchet made a layup and Little Rock made a pair from the line.

Demouchet hit a trey to push the deficit back to three with 2:02 left before half, but Johnson hit another pair of threes as the home team managed a 38-29 advantage at the break.

For the game, freshman Treylan Matthews scored 11 points with Demouchet coming off the bench for 10. Centenary managed 18-for-55 (32.7 percent) from the field. Johnson led Little Rock with 11-for-13 shooting from the field, including 7-for-8 from downtown, for a career-best 30 points.

Little Rock took a double-digit lead for good with a 10-2 run in the early part of the second half. Up 40-31, Johnson made an old-fashioned three, grabbed a steal, and made a lay-up all in nine seconds. Kemy Osse made a pair from the line before junior Brandon Campbell hit a jumper for Centenary. Jermaine Ruttley - who scored 12 points - added the hoop and ensuing free throw to push the score to 50-33 with 16 minutes left in the game.

Centenary returns to action this weekend for the SAA/SCAC Classic. The Gents take on Millsaps Saturday at 7 p.m. and Hendrix on Sunday at 5 p.m.
