SHREVEPORT, La. – The Ladies broke the 48-plateau in the final two rotations, including a big season-best on beam (48.675) as Centenary fell to Midwest Independent Conference foe UIC, 193-190.025 on a rare Monday afternoon meet, February 8.

Trailing by four after two events, the Ladies hit all six beam routines – including three personal bests – to put the pressure on the Flames. After a solid start to the event by sophomore Ashley White (9.675), senior Noel Stubbs (9.700) and a career-best by junior Taylor Le Moal (9.625), freshman Navia Jordan turned in the best score in her collegiate career to win the event (9.825). Freshman Tavia Smith followed with a 9.725 and senior Megan Desjardins received a career-best (9.750) to close the event.

The Maroon and White made up more than a point on the visitors on beam, 48.675-47.275. It was more than a two-tenths season high for Centenary on the event.

While it was a slow start for Centenary on floor, the Ladies caught fire quick. Kellie Slater moved into the lead on the event with two performers left in the meet, earning a 9.750. White capped a big afternoon while easily recording a career-best on floor with a 9.875. Jordan anchored the event with another solid career best, a 9.775.

However, UIC took floor 48.475-48.250.

Centenary swept the top three spots in an event for the second straight meet (vault Saturday, floor against UIC).

White also took second on bars (9.750) and fourth in the all around (38.350). Stubbs easily added a season high on vault to finish fourth with a 9.750.

As strong as the finish was for Centenary in the final two rotations, UIC started strong with a 48.750-47.225 win on vault and 48.500-45.875 on bars.

Jenna Squillo took the win on vault (9.850) while teammates Allison Broad and Mikailla Northern tied for second with a 9.800 for UIC. Bars went to Mikaila Northern (9.775), while White and Nicole Szabo tied for second with a 9.750.

Northern took the all around for the Flames with a 39.075.

Centenary returns to action Saturday, February 13, for senior day against Texas Woman’s and #35 Iowa State. Meet time is set for 6 p.m.
