Jordan Captures Second MIC Specialist of the Week Nod

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – In a vote of the Midwest Independent sports information directors, freshman Navia Jordan garnered MIC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season on Tuesday, February 16.

This past weekend on senior night against Iowa State and Texas Woman’s, Jordan turned in the routine of the weekend on beam, winning the event with a career best 9.850. As a team, Centenary finished with a 48.975 total, the second-highest beam score in team history.

The 9.850 for Jordan is the highest judges’ mark for an NCAA Division III athlete on beam this season. It was also the second-best total in the MIC in 2016. Her season average of 9.704 easily leads DIII and ranks second in the MIC to McKinzie Jones of Southeast Missouri State by only 0.003.

However, Jordan has Jones beat in regional-qualifying score by a comfortable margin, 9.735-9.71.

Jordan closed the weekend with a 9.725 on floor. Jordan’s season average on the apparatus of 9.572 ranks eighth in NCAA Division III.

The Ladies gymnastic team returns to action Friday night, February 19, against Wisconsin-Whitewater in Wisconsin. First rotation is set to begin at 7 p.m.
