SHREVEPORT, La. – Head Centenary women’s soccer coach David Orr is pleased to announce Thursday, February 18, the addition of Emilee Byrd and Haley Parker for the fall 2016 season.

“Centenary Soccer is excited to have these two local area players,” said Or. “Both Emilee and Haley are representing northwestern Louisiana very well, and I expect their continued progress representing the soccer community here. Centenary Ladies Soccer is stronger with the addition of these two local players! We’re very excited!

Here is a closer look at Emilee and Haley

Emilee Byrd

5-4 / Midfield

Shreveport, La. / Caddo Parish Magnet HS

Emilee will join the Ladies after playing for John Lee at Caddo Parish Magnet HS in Shreveport. Off the field, Emilee was a member of the National Honor Society for the Mustangs.

Emilee is the daughter of Rae and Paul Byrd. At Centenary, she intends to major in pre-veterinary.

Coach Orr on Emilee: I’ve known Emilee since she was a U13 player in the local area and had the pleasure of coaching her for a short time then. I have seen her grow into a collegiate level player, as well. Emilee is an exceptional distributor of the ball and has a great field presence.

Haley Parker

5-4 / Midfield

Stonewall, Louisiana / North DeSoto HS

Haley played midfield for head coach Gene Oakes at North DeSoto HS. With the Griffins, she was named to the All-State Composite Team for Division III. Academic honors include Student of the Year for North DeSoto HS and Desoto Parish, published in the NY Times, named to the Superintendent’s List and was a member of both the National Honor Society and the Red Coats.

A Shreveport native, Hayley is the daughter of Chris and Renee Parker, and has two sisters, Lacey and Kassidy. At Centenary, she intends to major in pre-medicine.

Coach Orr on Haley: Haley exemplifies the Centenary Student-Athlete. Not only is she a quality player (central midfiled), but a great citizen. Haley will provide not only much needed depth in the midfield, but also a positive locker room presence to an already great group of players.
