SHREVEPORT, La. –The Ladies fell behind by 10 early, but a dominating second and third quarter helped Centenary (9-16) upend Dallas Christian for the second time this season, 81-59 Saturday afternoon, February 20, in the Gold Dome.

Senior Briana Edwards wrapped up her regular season, Ladies career in style with 15 points and a season-high matching 18 rebounds with five blocks in the game. The nine offensive rebounds was also a season best for Edwards. Classmates Rebecca Thompson added six points while Lindsey Bruce added two.

Down 10 in the first quarter, Centenary went on a spurt in the final two minutes to cut the deficit to six. Junior DeiAnna Hall, who finished with a game-best 16 points, hit a pair of free throws. Hall added a fastbreak layup, as the Ladies trailed 19-13 after one.

A 10-0 run in the middle of the third put the home team in the lead for good. Freshman Savanah Doty nailed a fastbreak triple to put the Maroon and White up by two. Edwards added the fastbreak layup and an inside hoop to push the lead to six. Freshman Jasmine Morris, who came off the bench for 13, capped the run with a triple with 1:13 left.

Centenary led 37-30 at half.

The Ladies led by 12, before 17 unanswered spanning the third and fourth quarter opened up a 68-39 lead with 9:26 left. Hall made 5-of-6 from the line, before Doty added a pair from the charity stripe. Hall added the layup, followed by a fastbreak hoop by Edwards. Hall added a hit right before the buzzer to end the third as Centenary led 64-39 heading to the fourth.

A layup by Thompson and freshman Sheridan Smith capped the run as Centenary led 68-39. The Ladies took advantage of depth advantage against the Crusaders, outscoring Dallas Christian 42-3.

Dallas Christian, who never led in the meeting between the two teams in November, went on a 15-3 run to open a double-digit lead in the first quarter. Alexandria Thorne tied the game at four with a jumper before Hannah Foley and Mikayla Swift hit back-to-back triples. Doty answered with a three to cut the deficit in half, but Victoria Kuyendall added a layup. Alyssa Lopez hit a three, the only bench points for the Crusaders in the contest. Foley capped the spurt with a jumper as the visitors opened up a 10-point lead just eight minutes into the game.

Thorne and Kuykendall both scored 16 points, with Foley adding 13 for Dallas Christian. Mikayla Swift added 13 steals.

Centenary returns to action Friday night, February 26, in the first round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Ladies are the sixth seed, and will take on the third seed, which is to be determined.
