Ladies Claim Five Top-3 Event Finishes, Falls to Texas Woman’s

DENTON, Texas – The Ladies were not able to overcome  a tough first rotation as Centenary gymnastics fell to Texas Woman’s, 193.625-187.800, Saturday, February 27.

Sophomore Ashley White claimed a pair of event titles and finished second in the all-around. White tied with the Pioneers Schyler Jones on vault with a 9.775. White and Texas Woman’s Erin Alderman tied on floor with a 9.775.

White took second in the all-around with a 38.250 total.

Senior Kellie Slater received a season-best 9.650 on vault to take fifth.

The best event for the Maroon and White came on beam, where they eclipsed the 48-point threshold for the fifth time in the last six meets. Freshman Navia Jordan led a Centenary trio who took third, fourth and fifth in the event. Jordan received a 9.750, followed by senior Megan Desjardins 9.725. White tied for fifth with a 9.675.

For Texas Woman’s, Katie Simpson led a Pioneers’ sweep on bars with a 9.725. Jones took beam with a 9.825. Simpson also won the all-around with a total of 38.525.

Centenary returns to action Saturday, March 5, against Southeast Missouri State.
