JACKSON, Miss. – The Ladies dropped a pair of games on Wednesday, March 2, as Centenary (6-4) fell 12-4 in five innings of game one and 9-1 in six innings of game two to Belhaven (7-5).

Freshman Wendy Gillet led the Ladies for the day with five hits in six at-bats, including a pair of doubles. Sophomore Anna Dunn belted a three-run home run in game one, her second of the season.

Belhaven scored eight runs in the first inning of game one.  Dani Craft singled, stole two bases and scored on a passed ball. Savannah Lyon added a three-run home run while Jordan Herring and Hannah Holloway both drove in a pair with a double in the frame.

Freshman Lauren Beadle (1-2)  took the loss for the Ladies in the circle, allowing five runs (four earned) and two hits in 0.1 innings of work. Gillet finished 2-for-3 with a run scored in the game.

Carly Yasses added a home run for Belhaven. Craft added two hits in two at-bats with three runs scored. Herring (2-1) recorded the win in the circle, allowing only three hits in three innings of work.

In game two, Belhaven used home runs from Makenzie Hawkins, Crytal Kehtel and two from Yasses to win 9-1. Centenary scored when with two outs in the top of the fifth, senior Emily Sexton reached on an error, stole second and scored on freshman Cassie Gonzales’ single.

Freshman Nichole Aldridge (4-2) took the loss, allowing 11 hits and nine runs (six earned) in 5.1 innings of work. Julienne Broussard picked up the win for the Blazers, giving up one hit in three innings of work.

Centenary opens up Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders against Dallas. The games start at noon each day.
