SEGUIN, Texas – The Centenary softball team (14-12, 4-8 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) will have its hands full this weekend when it visits #4 Texas Lutheran (20-1, 8-0 SCAC).

The Bulldogs only loss came at the hands of Trine University on March 13 by a 7-2 score.

 

Follow the Games and Schedule Change

Previously scheduled to play on Friday, March 25, at 5 p.m., the doubleheader has been pushed ahead to begin at 2 p.m. The twinbill on Saturday is still scheduled for noon.

Best Start in Seven Years

With a sweep of the University of the Ozarks last Sunday, March 20, the Ladies evened their record to 12-12. It is the latest the Maroon and White were .500 this late in the season in seven years, when Centenary held a 16-8 record throught 24 contests.

The Ladies pushed ahead of the .500 mark on Tuesday, March 22, with a sweep at Rust. Centenary won the first game 11-5, before capturing the final game 17-0 in five innings.

 

All Good Things Must Come to an End

With a strikeout in her second at-bat of the first inning of the second game against Rust, freshman Wendy Gillet struck out for the first time in 25 games where she batted this season.

 

Next Up

The Ladies will close out home play next week with six games in four games. After a doubleheader with Hendrix on Thursday, March 31, Centenary will celebrate senior day and play Schreiner in a four-game series April 2-3.
