SEGUIN, Texas – The Ladies only managed six hits on the day as Centenary (14-16, 4-12 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) lost game one, 3-0, before falling 5-0 in game two.

Freshman Nichole Aldridge (7-10) took the loss in both games for the Ladies. In game one, she allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) in the complete-game loss. She allowed eight hits and five runs (three earned) in 5.1 innings in game two.

Heather Hummel hit a solo blast in the second while Taylor Yancey added a two-run home run in the fourth for the lone Bulldog runs.

Centenary tried to score first in the second, when with two outs freshman Nikki Greer walked and junior Lizzie Moran singled. However, Greer was thrown out trying to get back to second.

Taylor Grissom (9-0) picked up the complete-game win, allowing three hits and two walks.

In game two, Moran and sophomore Michelle Tasin singled in the second and seventh, respectively, but was thrown out trying to swipe second.

Texas Lutheran used three runs in the second, and one in the third and fourth for its five runs. Yancy led off the second with a double and scored on a sacrifice bunt attempt that led to an error. Nicole Snow tripled to center and stole home for three runs in the inning. Megan Armistead led off the third with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice and scored on Yancey’s RBI single.

A Kirsten Whiteside double and an RBI single by Brayden Pinckard scored the final run of game two in the fourth.

Veny Pizana (6-0) picked up the win in relief for the Bulldogs in game two, allowing two hits but striking out four in five innings of work.

Centenary begins a six-game home stand Thursday, March 31, with a pair of games against Hendrix. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
