Ladies Soccer Adds Gallegos, Bravo for 2016 Season

SHREVEPORT, La. – The additions keep rolling in for Centenary Ladies soccer and third-year head coach David Orr, as he announced the additions of Betzabet Bravo and Serena Gallegos for the 2016 season. The duo played together at Cypress Springs High School and head coach Vicki Manies, a Centenary alum.

Here is a closer look at the new Ladies soccer players:

 

Betzabet Bravo

Freshman

5-4 / Midfield

Katy, Texas / Cypress Springs HS

 

Bravo played both midfield and forward for Vickie Manies at Cypress Springs High School. She earned Honorable Mention honors her junior year.

Born in Veracruz, Mexico, Bravo is the daughter of Sobida Carmona. At Centenary, she intends to major in psychology.

Coach Orr on Betzabet: Betza is a great young lady, and she’s already bonded with a number of our returning players. Betza is a good athlete and a good attacking player, and she will bring her athleticism and skill into the midfield and striker positions for us. We are very excited to have her joining us.

Serena Gallegos

Freshman

5-4 / Defender

Katy, Texas / Cypress Springs HS

 

Gallegos played defense for head coach Vicki Manies at Cypress Springs High School. Twice she received All-District nominations for the Panthers. She earned Academic All-District accolades all four years and was a member of the National Honor Society at Cypress Springs.

Gallegos also played for the Crush FC Jets club team.

Originally born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she is the daughter of Frank and Cynthia Gallegos and has one brother, John, and one sister, Alicia. At Centenary, she intends to major in psychology and physical therapy.

Coach Orr on Serena: Serena is a tough, skilled and talented defender. We were first introduced to Serena through her high school coach, Vicki Manies (who is a Centenary Soccer Alumni). Serena and the current Centenary Ladies became quick friends when she visited. Serena will help to strengthen our defensive tactics, and she’ll bring a strong work ethic and competitive spirit to our team. We’re very fortunate to have her join us.
