Schimpf Named All-Region by D3Baseball

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary baseball junior Michael Schimpf continues his haul of postseason awards after the 2016 season. Released on Monday, May 23, by D3Baseball.com, the Shreveport native and Captain Shreve alum grabbed Third Team All-West Region accolades.

Awards garnered by Schimpf since the 2016 regular season ended include First Team All-Conference and All-Tournament accolades by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and Academic All-District distinction from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Schimpf had a very successful season on the diamond, helping the Gents finish the year 26-13 and achieve a number 12 ranking – the highest in school history.  Schimpf leads the SCAC in 2016 with a .425 batting average – a mark that ranks 35th in the nation.  He also sits fourth in the conference in both hits (65) and third runs (45).

From February 14-March 26, Schimpf tallied a 17-game hitting streak. The streak included eight-straight games with at least a pair of base hits.
