LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Centenary athletics placed 26 student-athletes on the Academic All-Conference Teams in a list released by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

To be named Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete achieved a 3.25 GPA during the semester of competition. In the SCAC, 405 student-athletes achieved this milestone.

Six Centenary student-athletes received both All-Conference honors in both the classroom as well as postseason recognition for their athletic successes. Leading the way was baseball, who placed 12 athletes on the Academic All-Conference teams. Junior Michael Schimpf led the way, as earlier this spring he was named the fourth CoSIDA Academic All-American in Centenary College history. Besides his academic accomplishments, he was twice named to the West All-Region team (American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3Baseball), First Team All-Conference and to the SCAC All-Tournament team as an outfielder.

Sophomore Kaleb Kirk also grabbed Academic All-Conference accolades for the Gents. Kirk, who tied the school record for wins in a season (nine), joined Schimpf on the First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-Region by the ABCA. Sophomore Ian Graham claimed academic recognition after being named Honorable Mention All-Conference and SCAC All-Tournament.

Other honorees for the Diamond Gents include juniors Grant Debevec, Scott Dwyer, Ethan Hyatt, Preston LeJeune and Taylor Reed; sophomore Michael Francis; and freshmen Kyle Barron, Matthew Devillier and Sam Lawson.

Ladies softball claimed four academic honorees, three of which received All-Conference accolades. Freshman Wendy Gillet received both academic and athletic honors, leading the team with a .410 batting average, 59 hits, 16 doubles and four home runs. Sophomore Michelle Tasin finished second on the team with a .400 batting average and 58 hits. Tasin led the team with 41 RBI’s and 32 runs.

Freshman academic honoree, Margeaux Smith, helped fuel Centenary’s third-place run through the conference tournament, finishing the five games the Ladies played 9-for-17 with six RBI’s and two runs scored.

Sophomore Anna Dunn rounds out the academic award winners for Ladies softball.

Gents golf had four award winners and Ladies tennis claimed three honorees. Sophomores Graham Maxwell and Jeffrey Scott with freshmen Edvard Granrud and Henry Llorence both achieved a 3.25 GPA for the Gents golf team.
