Ladies Soccer Selected Seventh, Gents Eighth in Preseason Conference Poll

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In a vote by the head soccer coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference released Monday, August 29, the Centenary Ladies soccer team was selected to finish seventh. The Gents were selected to finish eighth.

Both the Trinity men and women were unanimously picked to repeat as SCAC Champions in 2016.

The Ladies are coming off a 2-2 tie in an exhibition game at the University of the Ozarks. Sophomore AJ Walsh scored the contest’s first goal on an assist from classmate Kati-Jayde Cunningham. Ozarks scored the next two goals, but freshman Taylor Morgan forced the tie when she found the back of the net off a pass from classmate Emilee Byrd in the final 10 minutes.

The Gents battled to a scoreless tie with LSU-Alexandria on August 21.

Both teams begin the 2016 campaign Thursday afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi. The Ladies take on Belhaven at 1 p.m., while the Gents battles the Blazers at 3:30 p.m.
