The All-Time Series

Belhaven and Centenary have not met on the pitch during the regular season. However, the Ladies and Blazers squared off in an exhibition meeting in Shreveport before the 2015 season. Centenary won 1-0 on a late goal.

Centenary holds a 7-2 advantage over Louisiana College, however, the Wildcats have won the last two contests. Both teams have played each other each of the last six years.

Centenary and LeTourneau have split six all-time meetings, but the YellowJackets are on a three-game winning streak against the Ladies. The YellowJackets won a high-scoring affair last season in Shreveport, 5-4. LeTourneau led Centenary 4-1 in the 35th minute, but the Ladies scored the next two goals to draw within a single score. The teams traded a pair of goals to close out the game. Marissa Hughes led the Maroon and White with as pair of goals, while Keeley Haden led the YellowJackets with her own hat trick.

The Season

SCAC Preview Video

The 2016 edition of the Ladies soccer team will feature 10 newcomers for the 2016 season. However, the returners include senior goalie Erica Coker, who ranks fourth in the Ladies career annals with 326 saves, just 54 saves shy of the top spot.

The Maroon and White also return more than 90 percent of the scoring from the 2015 season.

The leading goal scorer for the Ladies returns for this season in senior forward Marissa Hughes, who scored five goals in 2015. In the first game of the season last year against East Texas Baptist, she became the 16th Centenary women’s soccer player to record a hat trick in a game. She also added an assist en route to being named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. Hughes finished the season named Second Team All-Conference.

Coker also grabbed an SCAC Player of the Week award last season. She finished the season fourth in the conference with 114 total saves

Also returning in the forward position is sophomore Maddy Brown, who finished second on the team with three goals. Senior midfielder Hannah Jo Wright added a goal and is the team’s leading returner with a pair of assists in 2015.

Junior midfielder AJ Walsh and junior defender Riley Spudic also scored the other goals among returners. Spudic found the back of the net in what proved to be the game-winning goal against Dallas last season in an absolute downpour at Mayo Field on October 23.

Eight of the 10 newcomers are freshmen, with junior midfielder Connor Harwood transferring from Kilgore College and sophomore forward Kati-Jayde Cunningham joining the Ladies from Louisiana Tech. Last season, she recorded a hat trick in a game against Southern for the Lady Techsters.
