SEGUIN, Texas – Both teams stood scoreless after a half, but the Gents allowed an early goal to begin the second stanza as Centenary (3-4, 0-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Texas Lutheran (2-5, 2-1 SCAC) 1-0 Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18.

Texas Lutheran took a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks in the first half with no scores, but the Bulldogs took advantage of their first one to begin the second half. David Ching took the corner for the home team, who found Cameron Townes, who made the short pass to Eduardo Lopez-Rivera. He scored from about five yards out for the only score of the game.

Senior goalie Rylan Whan (3-4) grabbed a season-best 10 saves for the Gents. Brendan Soto stopped both shots faced for a shutout for Texas Lutheran.

Sophomore Braylen Hollins had the lone shot on target in the first half for Centenary while senior Jeremy Klespis’ shot in the 73rd minute was repelled.

Texas Lutheran outshot Centenary 23-4, including 11-2 in shots on goal.

The Gents return to action for their first SCAC home game next Friday, which is also our Go4theGoal Lace up 4 Pediatric Cancer. We will be asking donations that help kids with cancer in the Shreveport area. Kickoff with the Mountaineers is 5 p.m.
