JACKSON, Miss. – The Gents and Belhaven (0-0-1) each scored a goal in the first Centenary (0-1-1) tie in three seasons, while the Maroon and White fell in the weekend finale to the University of the Ozarks (1-1) 2-0 Sunday afternoon, September 3, in Jackson, Mississippi.

It did not take long for junior Chase Clark to begin the scoring for the 2017 season, when he headed in a pass from sophomore Gabe Rodriguez in the fourth minute against Belhaven. It was Centenary’s only shot on goal for the game.

The Blazers and Nathan Ratzlaff scored the equalizer in the 31st minute.

Senior Kaleb Behm tallied his first tie of his career, making 10 saves.

Kobe Van Someren led Belhaven with eight shots, four of which were on goal.

In Sunday’s game against the Eagles, sophomore Gabe Rodriguez managed five shots on goals and Behm grabbed eight saves, but two second half goals lifted the University of the Ozarks to a 2-0 win.

Bryce Young and Manny Torres recorded the scores for the Eagles, while Logan Valestin got the shutout with seven saves in goal.

Centenary returns to action Friday, September 8, when it opens up Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and home play against Austin College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
