IRVING, Texas – After falling behind by three goals, the Ladies answered with a score of their own, four corner kicks, and two shots on goal in the final 22 minutes, but Centenary (2-3-1, 2-1-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Dallas (2-4-2, 1-1-1 SCAC) 3-1 Friday Afternoon, September 22.

Down 3-0, Centenary sophomore Serena Gallegos found freshman Kelly Vazquez for her first collegiate goal of her career in the 68th minute. However, the Maroon and White could not find the back of the net the rest of the contest in the two-goal loss.

However, Centenary outshot Dallas 20-15 and 10-7 in shots on goal.

Dallas struck in the 35th minute when Gaby Gonzalez aimed a free kick on goal that tipped off Centenary freshman goalie Maggie Pitcher’s hands. The Crusaders scored what proved to be the game winner in the 54th minute off the foot of Kate Vidimos.

Pitcher finished the game with four saves, while her counterpart on the Crusders, Olivia Severson, grabbed eight saves.

Centenary returns to action next Friday, September 29, when it hosts Trinity at Mayo Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
