SHREVEPORT, La. – The Ladies had a strong opportunity in the first half, and a fortuitous bounce in the box went the Mountaineers way as Centenary (2-5-1, 4-0-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) lost to Schreiner (5-4-1, 4-0-1 SCAC) 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Mayo Field.

In the 34th minute, a ball was served in to sophomore Gabby Lovemore in the box with a chance. However, her touch went wide right. The Ladies were held without a shot on goal.

Freshman goalie Maggie Pitcher made five saves in goal for the Ladies.

With 9:21 left in the game, Centenary was whistled for a handball in the box to give the Moutaineers a corner kick. Ruth Blackburn converted the penalty kick for the first goal of the game. Schreiner scored an insurance goal less than two minutes later when Laura Atzeni scored on a 2v1.

Blackburn and Atzeni led Schreiner with two shots on goal each.

Centenary returns to action Tuesday when it hosts LeTourneau at 5 p.m.
