SHREVEPORT, La. – After spending nearly a month on the road, the Ladies take part in three matches in the area as it hosts Grambling State (7-15) Thursday, October 5, before a pair of matches in Longview, Texas, October 6, against LeTourneau (5-13) and Jarvis Christian (2-21).

The Series

The Ladies are 17-23 all-time vs Grambling State, including a tough five-set loss at Grambling in September.

September 18: at Grambling State 3, Centenary 2


Centenary is 5-7 against LeTourneau all-time and split last season. However, they beat the YellowJackets in straight sets to finish the first day of their annual Halloween tournament.

Finally, Friday marks the rubber match between the Ladies and Jarvis Christian. Both teams have split six matches against each other all-time, with the Bulldogs sweeping a pair of matches last season.

Stat Leaders

Through the first half of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, the Ladies claim a pair of players in the top-5 in the conference in statistical categories. Last year’s SCAC statistical champion in aces per set, junior Hailey Lawson leads the conference again with 0.69 aces per set. With 40 aces this season and 145 for her career, she sits third in the career volleyball annals with 145, two behind Robin Hill (1996-99) and 15 behind Cassiana Costa (1998-99).

Lawson also ranks 51st in the nation in aces per set.

Finally, senior Desiree Frey ranks third in the SCAC and 155th in the nation with 3.16 kills per set. With 951 career kills and 928 digs, Frey is looking to become the first player in Centenary volleyball history with 1,000 kills and digs in a career.


Next Up

The Ladies take the weekend off before kicking off the second weekend of SCAC play October 13-14 for a trio of matches in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Ladies battle Austin College on Friday night, before concluding the weekend against Dallas and host Colorado College on Saturday.
