CONWAY, Ark. – The Ladies led by as much as seven late in the second quarter, but the Warriors cut the lead to three at halftime and used back-to-back triples to take the lead for good in the third quarter as Centenary (0-4) fell to Hendrix (4-1) 77-62 Saturday afternoon in Conway, Arkansas.

Tied at 22 with 5:34 left in the second, Centenary used an 11-4 run to take its largest lead of the game. Junior Savanah Doty hit back-to-back threes around a split trip to the line for Hendrix to push the Ladies lead to five. The Warriors split from the line again before two from the charity stripe by Deunya Small upped the lead to six. In the continued parade to the free throw line, Hendrix hit a pair before freshman Ethany Cosby split a pair for the Maroon and White.

Cosby broke up the free throw contest with a layup to put Centenary up 33-26 with 3:08 left in the second. Both teams made 22 field goals for the game, but Hendrix took advantage of a 38-21 edge at the charity stripe.

For the game, Doty led Centenary with 20 points while junior Jasmine Morris added 10.

With 39 seconds left in the first half and the home team down by seven, eight unanswered spanning both halves gave Hendrix the lead. Vinessa Daniel made a layup for and after a defensive stop, she finished the half with another layup off an offensive rebound for Hendrix.

Heather Prowse and Madison Martin both made layups to begin the second half to put Hendrix up 39-38 with 7:47 left in the third. However, Centenary struck back with a jumper by senior Samantha Lyons and another Doty three to push the lead back to four.

Hendrix answered with threes by Leah Smith and Daniel to put the home team back in front. After a Morris layup briefly tied the game, a Maddie Anderson jumper gave Hendrix the lead for good.

Daniel led Hendrix with 17 points off the bench on 6-for-7 shooting, while Martin added 13. Prowse added a game-high 11 rebounds.

Centenary returns to action Wednesday night, November 29, against UT Tyler. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Tyler, Texas.
