Ladies Basketball vs LeTourneau: Live Stats | Live Video

The Opening Tip

  • The Centenary Ladies (1-5) basketball team looks to continue its winning ways when it welcomes LeTourneau Thursday night (December 7).
  • This is the 10th meeting all time but only the second meeting in December.
  • This will be the third game of the season against a team that plays in the American Southwest Conference.
  • Freshman Haylee Washington sits sixth overall and first among freshmen in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with 8.2 rebounds per game. Last year, then-freshman Deunya Small finished fifth overall and led the SCAC in rebounding with 8.1 boards per game.

Last Time Against LeTourneau

On November 26, 2016, in Longview, the Ladies and YellowJackets played to seven ties in a closely-contested first half, but a three right before halftime and 15 unanswered to begin the second half propelled LeTourneau to an 82-73 win.

Essa Badon led Centenary with a collegiate best 22 points, shooting 6-for-12 from three and 2-for-3 from inside the arc. Jasmine Morris recorded her second collegiate double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.

LeTourneau returns none of its starters from the game and only 15.9 percent of its scoring from that meeting. Sha’Donnaver Young scored eight points in six minutes of action.

The Series with the YellowJackets

This will be the 10th time the Ladies and YellowJackets have met on the court in a series that dates back to the 2001-2002 season. Centenary leads 6-3, but the Yellow Jackets have won the last two meetings.

Centenary won the first five meetings and 6-of-7 to begin the series (with the one loss coming in overtime). This will be the first game in Shreveport since November 29, 2014, a YellowJackets 76-63 win. The Ladies last reached the century mark in a 110-64 win against LeTourneau November 24, 2003.

Rebounding the Freshman Way

As mentioned in the opening tip, freshman Haylee Washington sits sixth overall and first among freshman in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with 8.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore Deunya Small finished fifth overall and led among freshmen in that category for the SCAC last season.

Washington has grabbed at least eight rebounds in 4-of-6 games this season, including 12 against Hendrix on November 19. She finished one point and rebound short of her first collegiate double-double against Johnson and Wales December 1.

Race to 1,000

Junior Jasmine Morris is trying to become just the seventh Ladies basketball player to reach 1,000 career points. She has 873 in her quest to become only the second Centenary player to reach this milestone in her junior season.
