Smith Captures All-Around, Ladies Fall in First Home Gymnastics Meet

SHRVEPORT, La. – Junior Tavia Smith won the all-around while classmate Navia Jordan placed second on floor to pace Centenary in a 193.700-185.700 loss to Texas Woman’s in gymnastics Friday afternoon, February 2.

The last competitor of the meet, Jordan received a season best of 9.775 to finish second on floor. Smith received season bests on vault (9.500), bars (9.450), and floor (9.600) to win the all-around with a 37.175 total, also a season best.

Texas Woman’s was led by Schyler Jones, who won on floor with a 9.825 and on vault – with teammates Mallory Moredock and Brandi Lazarus – with a 9.750. The Pioneers finished scored better than a 48 on all four events, including 48.525 on both vault and bars.

Centenary returns to action Sunday afternoon, February 4, in a second meet against Texas Woman’s. First rotation is set for 2 p.m.
