SEGUIN, Texas – The Ladies shot 11.5 percent (3-for-26) in the first half and fell behind by 17 at the intermission as Centenary (8-15, 5-7 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) lost to Texas Lutheran (8-15, 4-8 SCAC) 61-45 Friday night, February 9.

Trailing 37-20 early in the third, an 11-2 run by the Ladies brought the game back to single digits. Junior Jasmine Morris and freshman Bre Frierson made layups to bring Centenary within 11. Anna Koenig answered with a jumper for the Bulldogs, but freshman Kayla King split from the line and classmate Ethany Cosby added a fastbreak layup. Frierson capped the spurt with a layup, but Centenary climbed no closer.

Morris and Frierson led Centenary with eight points each, while King grabbed 11 boards – her third-straight game with double-digit rebounds.

Texas Lutheran scored the first 11 points of the game and outscored the Ladies 13-2 in the first quarter. Abby Hroch scored on a layup on the first possession of the game before a Dominique Campos jumper more than two minutes later. Koenig split from the line before layups from Cami Davis, Hroch, and Bryanna Delgado put the home team up double digits.

Cosby ended the scoring draught for Centenary to begin the game with a pair of free throws. The Ladies scored their first six points of the game from the line and did not make a field goal until junior Savanah Doty’s three with 8:46 left in the second quarter.

Texas Lutheran shot 44.1 percent (15-for-34) in the first half alone to run out to a 35-18 lead at the break, finishing the game 44.9 percent (22-for-49) from the field. Presley Stephens came off the bench to lead the Bulldogs with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
