SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team dropped a doubleheader to Evangel University on Monday afternoon at the Centenary Softball Complex. The Ladies (1-11) fell 7-0 in the opener to the Crusaders before closing out the twinbill with an 8-0 setback.

EU hurler Lenzie Boring and the Crusader defense held the Ladies’ bats at bay allowing just four hits – all coming from the top of the order. Boring (4-0) tossed 6.0 innings and fanned seven hitters with one walk allowed. Mikaela Scott pitched the final frame with a K.

The two squads went through four scoreless innings until EU added five runs in the fifth inning sparked by a Bethany Bacon solo homerun to lead off the frame. EU tacked on a pair in the sixth to insure its win.

In the second affair, the Ladies again only amassed four hits with two coming off the bat of Jessica McDonald. Whitney Patterson and Erin Crites each added a hit to round out the four-hit effort.

Brooke Brenton (3-0) pitched 4.0 innings with three strikeouts in the win. Scott recorded the final inning in relief with a strikeout.

EU placed three runs on the board in the first two innings before erupting with five runs in the fourth en route to the victory. Five Crusaders posted multiple hits assisting to the 11 total hits.

Lindsey Sconce tossed all 12 innings in the double dip and was saddled with the two losses.

Centenary returns to action on Wednesday, Mar. 13 at LSU-Alexandria. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 5 p.m.
