Softball falls in season opener

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team dropped its season opening doubleheader as LeTourneau downed the Ladies 12-0 and 13-0 to claim the sweep.
Centenary totaled just four hits in the decisions with Whitney Patterson collecting two hits in the opener. Nicole Warren added the lone hit in the second contest with Laura Perilloux gathering her first, collegiate hit to assist Patterson with the three-hit total in the first affair.
The Ladies sent a combined four hurlers into the circle. Lynsi Unruh was saddled with the loss in the opener while Perilloux collected the setback in the second contest. Unruh tossed four innings giving up 11 runs on 12 hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Perilloux tossed the final frame of the contest allowing a run on two hits.
The freshman drew in the start in the second contest and tossed 1.2 innings allowing six runs on six hits with a walk. Emma Viskozki surrendered four runs on two hits with a walk in relief of Perilloux while Patterson pitched the final 3.1 innings allowing three runs – two earned – on six hits with a pair of walks and strikeout.
LETU rattled off 28 combined hits in the twinbill and gathered 22 RBI. Courtney Matulis, Anna Winter and Taylor Kaderli each posted multiple hits in the two outcomes with Winter leading the team in RBI with four total.
Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 22 as the Ladies travel to Millsaps for a doubleheader that starts at 12 p.m.
