IRVING, Texas – The Ladies committed eight errors in two games as Centenary (13-21, 10-10 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell in six innings, 11-3, in game one and 11-6 in game two to Dallas (11-25, 6-14 SCAC) Friday afternoon, April 14.

In game two, Centenary fell behind 3-0 before scoring two in the fourth because of a key error and one more in the fifth. With two down in the fourth, senior Lizzie Moran hit a groundball to first that was misplayed to allow her to beat the throw. Moran stole second and scored on sophomore Wendy Gillet’s RBI hit. While trying to gun down Moran at the plate, Gillet moved to second and scored on freshman Ashley Albright’s hit.

In the fifth, sophomore Payton LeBlanc was hit by a pitch to begin the inning, was sacrificed to third, and scored on junior Anna Dunn’s two-out hit to tie the game at three.

However, Dallas scored three in the fifth and five in the sixth to blow the game open. The Ladies responded with one in the sixth and two in the seventh, but it was not enough. Junior Haley Miller drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth. In the seventh, Gillet hit her seventh sacrifice fly of the season and Albright added another RBI single.

Gillet and Albright both went 3-for-4 for the game with a pair of RBI’s. Sophomore Nichole Aldridge (9-11) took the loss in the circle, allowing 10 hits and 11 runs (five earned) in six innings of work.

After Centenary tied game two at three, Dallas took advantage of a dropped bunt that was popped up. With one out and two on base, Jade Miller doubled to score the go-ahead run and put a pair in scoring position. Allie Driskill added an infield single that cleared the bases.

Centenary got back one, but the Crusaders put the game away with five in the sixth. The Ladies committed three errors which led to three unearned runs for Dallas.

Allison Kotlar paced Dallas with three hits in as many at-bats with two runs scored and an RBI. Katie Lee (5-11) picked up the win, allowing four runs (two earned) while giving up eight hits in 5.1 innings of work. Lauren Galvan threw the final 1.2 innings for her first save of the season.

In game one, Dallas scored the first nine runs and won by eight in six innings. The Ladies scored all three runs in the fifth when, with two outs and one on base, sophomore Payton LeBlanc doubled down the leftfield line. On the very next pitch, freshman pinch hitter Kristyn Peacock doubled down the rightfield line to score a pair. Freshman Haley Campbell added an RBI hit to cut the deficit to 9-3.

Sophomore Lauren Beadle (3-6) took the loss in game one, allowing three hits and four runs in one inning of work.

For the Crusaders, Stephanie Cervantes and Mackenzie Tano hit home runs, while Galvan (6-11) picked up a complete-game win in the circle.

Centenary concludes the regular season with a four-game set at Schreiner next Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.
