Pre-game superstition: Her junior year of high school, the softball team won the 5A Texas Championship. A month before that, her family was told by doctors that her grandpa, her best friend, had stage four cancer. The week of the championship tournament, he passed away. On that Saturday, her team got together and decided to all write "4Papa" (the name they all knew him by) on their wrists to show that they would dedicate that game to him. And every game since, she have played with that written on my arm.
